I am Lena Birgitsdotter. I am a mother, a partner, a friend and a sister. I am also a jewelry artist and a former biologist. I live and work in Stenungsund on the west coast of Sweden close to the sea I love so much.

I work with metals, often in shape of straightened wire, sometimes in connection to ceramic parts, and in this limitation I find great freedom. I take inspiration from architecture, science and nature. My objects play with movement, size, volume, weight, density and the shift between 3D and 2D appearance. I enjoy joint projects as well as solo work. I just set up a new studio in my hometown Stenungsund railway station house together with art jeweller Staffan Jonsson and I share my time working there and at the Lerverk Craft Collective in Göteborg being its president for 2024.

Welcome to have a look at my work! Any questions, contact me.

High up in the north, in a land called Svithjod, there stands a rock. It is a hundred miles high and a hundred miles wide. Once every thousand years a little bird comes to this rock to sharpen its beak.

When the rock thus has been worn away, then a single day of eternity will have gone by.
